Today was Edie's second birthday. And while we didn't throw her a party, I think her head might have exploded if we had, because just about every one of her favorite things happened today. First, her birthday gift from us: a toy kitchen. Big, big hit. I am quite sure I will be drinking a LOT of pretend coffee this week. Then, we sang her Happy Birthday and had a second breakfast of cinnamon rolls and fruit salad with all of her grandparents to officially celebrate. Second breakfasts and cinnamon rolls are both top notch treats for E. And a group of adults singing in unison? And singing a song that has the words "birthday" and "Edie" in it? I don't think she breathed for the duration. After stuffing ourselves with baked goods, it was off to the playground. But Edie decided that she wanted to go to the dog park instead, so we obliged. Her best pal, and aged Labrador named Charlie, was there and they played fetch for some time (Charlie only wants the ball thrown a foot or two, so he is a very good toddler playmate). After a short nap - what's better than a short nap?! (*mom groan*) - Amma and Afi came back over, showered her with more attention, and then off to a restaurant where they made her a mini veggie burger of her very own! Phew.

It was the best birthday ever. The next day when we went for a walk to another park to feed the birds she told us, Edie's birthday--and she smiled. She seemed like she was having the best day ever. Lucky us to be there. :)
