Happy birthday, Grandma Sally!

The Grissom grandparents came to town on Grandma Sally's birthday. We ate out at the trendy new restaurant in our neighborhood - Lockeland Table - at the untrendy time of 5 pm. The wee ones put up with it pretty well! Thanks for sharing your day with us, Grandma!

Trip to Ann Arbor

All of us trekked up to Michigan to spend some time in Ann Arbor.  My law school five year reunion was held that weekend, so I caught up with some old friends.  We also saw lots of family, including both of my brothers who met Eli for the first time.  It was a hectic weekend, but the kids were incredible troopers and we had a lot of fun - even on the 8 am flight home on Sunday morning.

It was rainy and cold on Saturday, so we spent a couple hours at the Hands On Museum.  The kids had a great time!

Reunion with the Krugs! We had the rare treat to catch up with our wonderful west-coast friends.  And Eli got to meet his other half -  sweet little Anne!

Edie and Julian had fun playing and hassling each other.

Plane ride home at 8 am after a very early wake up.  Eli slept on my chest.  And Edie was wide away.

Eli and Jen meet!

More cuddles for Eli from Uncle Jens.

Mmmmm. Breakfast at Northside Grill.  We do love Ann Arbor!

Fall Fun

We live very close to a nature center, and Edie is old enough now to take advantage of some of the programming they do there.  Last Friday was a morning of spiders, with stories about spiders, spider hunting outside, and making spider cookies as well.  Oh, and face painting!

Rolly Polly Baby

Just a few days before he hit four months, Eli rolled over!  He can go tummy to back pretty regularly now, and he is working on back to tummy as well.  Eli has also been scooting around a bit inch worm style, which is just frightening at this age.  But it is awfully cute, too.

My gorgeous children

I really steer clear of emphasizing looks at all to Edie.  (I call Eli gorgeous all day long because he's young enough for me to get a free pass for the moment.)  I think it's important to do that for a variety of reasons.  And it breaks my heart when she asks me if she looks pretty, because that is the main praise she hears from other adults. But that aside, in a very non-baby-model type way, through a mom's eyes, there is really nothing as beautiful as your own babies' faces.  I made them pose for me a bit yesterday while we played in the backyard because I was in a mood that made me want to freeze a moment in time.
