Hard to believe it's been a month already! Eli was verrry sleepy his first couple of weeks.
Little man was born during the dog days of Tennessee summer. Here he is on a shady trail on a balmy day. It took far more time to get out of the house than we were able to spend outside, I'm afraid.
Baby #2 has little choice but to be in the mix of daily life from the get-go. Check him out, sitting with dad during breakfast.
We've gotten one or two smiles in the past few days! Hard to catch them in a photo, though. Here's a contented after-smile face.

That Hair!
I rather doubt that Eli's impressive head of hair will stick around too long; Edie's fell out shortly after she was born, as did my own, I am told. But for now, little brother has some impressive locks. It naturally falls into a euro-glam-rock style, too. Thought I should document it while it's still around.
Eli meets Papa
Grandma came back for a visit, and Grandpa Grissom joined this time! It's quite a drive, but a lot better than having to venture abroad to see their grandkids, I imagine. Eli was 2 weeks old during these pictures and had the milestone of going out (and sleeping through) his first restaurant experience. And Edie got some grandparent love, too, of course!

Amma and Afi Visit
Eli got to meet more grandparents this weekend. Amma and Afi came for a short visit during an epic heatwave. Highs of 108 degrees kept us housebound, which is fine for a 1 week old but a little hairy for a 2.5 year old. Thank you for your visit, Amma and Afi! I hope we can get some fresh air next time you come.
Eli's First Bath
He liked it better than his sister did, some time ago! I forgot how hard it was to hold these squirmy little ones in the bath...
Big Sister Copes
Edie has done an admirable job of adjusting to her baby brother so far. But that doesn't mean it's always easy. Here she is, getting some of her feelings out through art and fashion.
Grandma Sally Helps Welcome Eli
Grandma came to stay with us for a week, starting with the day Eli was born. She left her house at 6 am, arriving around noon - none to soon, but just in time, for Eli's birth about 4 hours later! Grandma and Edie were passing some time at a cafe when the little guy was born at 3:43 pm and returned to us shortly after. Then, she spent a week as our indentured servant, cleaning, shopping, walking dogs, and tending to Miss Edie. Our biggest thank you to Grandma Sally for her immensely helpful stay!!
