Welcome, Eli!!

Eli Robert Grissom joined our family in the outside world on June 21, 2012, weighing in at 7 lb 10 oz, and a lanky 21 3/4".  He was born at home at 3:43 p.m. and we are all so very happy to finally meet our sweet son/brother!

Edie's first day of preschool

She doesn't look terribly thrilled in these pictures, but Edie did so very well at preschool! She is really taking to it and I think it's fast becoming a highlight of her week.  The school, called El Jardin de los Ninos (or the Children's Garden) is located in our neighborhood.  Edie attends two mornings a week, learning lots of new things while mom gets some time for chores, new baby, and maybe a rest once in awhile!

Happy Father's Day!

Well, I really thought we were going to be celebrating Father's Day with two kids this year, but the new guy still wants to keep baking!  Tummy Baby was part of the matching-gift tradition, though, receiving a Vandy onesie to match his/her sister's and dad's new shirts.  Edie and I also made dad some Father's Day cards, but my pregnant brain hid them too well and now I can't find them.  Sigh.  Big breakfast and a hot morning trip to the playground, and now we're about to wrap up the a.m. with some leftover pizza.  Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, especially to Will, and our wonderful grandfathers, Tim Watts and Tim Grissom.

Love,
Rachael, Edie, and Tummy Baby

Ice cream social

Well, I am trying to get up to date on Edie pics in anticipation of getting behind on ... everything.  E and I have been up to all sorts of activities lately in the neighborhood.  I am a bit tired, but having fun seeing friends and playing, enjoying the ease of just one child on the outside.  We went to an ice cream social at a friend's house on Friday.  Edie had never experienced the wonder of chocolate sauce.  She was impressed.

38 weeks

These are definitely the last pictures I will be publicizing for this pregnancy.  I am HUGE!! I have slowed down a lot this week - I am in week 39 now.  Edie is very excited.  Sometimes she dances in front of me, singing "Tummy Baby, come out! Tummy Baby, come out!!"  But whether this kid comes early or late, it will be soon!

Best Pals

Sugar, having resigned herself to the fact that Edie is the only person who is willing to shower her with attention for most of her waking hours, has really warmed up to the kid!

Dino Baby

Edie loves dinosaurs.  Recently, she went to a special exhibit at the Nashville Zoo where they had huge animatronic dinos on display.  She came home proclaiming that the "Brachi-ma-soy-us" [trans. Brachiosaurus] was her favorite dinorsaur because of his "yong neck."  She even wrote a song about it, and can still often be heard singing to herself "What you see, what you see? I see a Brachi-ma-soy-us!!"  It's a catchy tune.  Here is Edie playing dino with her new beach towel. Rawr!

Dad & Summertime

Will is very, very busy with work these days, and that's not expected to change for the next few ... years?  Lucky for him, he loves his job!  The time he does have he spends with us, and a lot of that is lounging in the backyard.  Whether dipping his feet in our glamorous pool or taking in the breeze in our swing, Dad and E always find a moment to reconnect.
