First Haircut

Edie's hair has recently turned into a bit of a mullet. And she really hates getting her hair dried after a bath. So put them together, and we decided it was haircut time. It started off well enough, but then she turned her head fast to look at a dog and the not-so-sharp scissors yanked her hair. She was reluctant to forgive me. But only a couple minutes of work later, she looked fresh and chic in her budget 'do.
Utensils
Edie is all about utensils. Even wants to eat banana with a fork these days. It's all very refined. Here is a (quite long) video of her spoon prowess.

14 months: I ain't afraid of no ducks.

Edie's love, and unnatural lack of fear, of all animals is in full swing. Ducks and geese are a favorite, but she tries to pet and hug them, even when they hiss, which leads to some unappreciated parental disruption. She's still working on the walking. Edie is a cautious kid who can crawl fast and values her independence. So she seems to have little interest in trying to walk when it's dangerous and she can get along just fine on the ground, thankyouverymuch. Talking is her main occupation. Her current vocab list: this, apple, quack, book, hi, banana, soft, mama, dada, bath, ball, woof, dog, keys, Billy, Sugar, baby, kiss, juice, shoe, up, hot, buh-bye, shirt, no, hat, teeth, wow, and boom. She signs for "all done," milk, more, and food.
I hope to add traveling to her likes, since we're going to Iceland and Greece in the coming months!

Baby love
Fun weekend with friends. Edie loves her buddy Linnea, and has been working hard teaching her junior friend how to give kisses.

No Pants Monday

We went out on a playdate today, trying to go to a pool. The pool was closed, however, but the park was not! Edie's pants got wet, but it was so warm out that I decided to let her roam a little freer while they dried. That new, head thrown back, goofy grin is a favorite these days. Will and I are pretty big fans of it.

puppy time!

On the last day of my 20s (sigh), Edie and I went on a walk with two of our friends. On the way out of the park, we stopped at the beer garden for a snack. Edie made friends with the second cutest creature at the place (she was #1 of course!). She has no fear of dogs, and this tiny puppy was no exception. They even shared a pretzel when mom wasn't quick enough to intercept!

Day at the park
I took this video to memorialize a trip to the English Gardens. We do this several times a week, though the weather has gotten so nice lately that today we not only took a walk, but stopped to lounge in the grass. As a bonus, Edie attempts to stand by herself at the end! She's getting there!

Toddler lumps

Miss Edie is more and more a toddler with each passing day. It's a perceptible shift from baby-lala-land to a connection and awareness to the world around them. Mobility goes hand in hand, as babies learn cause and effect, sometimes to their delight and other times, sadly, skinning their little baby chins on the way down from pulling themselves up on a formerly friendly chair.
100 kisses and hugs later, she was more upset by the annoying band-aid than the wound. Edie, Will and I took a walk to take her (and our) mind off it all. I think her dad took it worst of all :)
