Merry Christmas!

Christmas was so wonderful this year, full of family, laughs, Bavarian Christmas spirit and a very cute almost 11 mo old Edie.

My mom made Edie two outfits, one Hello Kitty themed. They are soooo cute!

Edie got to know her Uncle Quay, who was a big hit with this little lady. His own little girl is due this April. He is going to be a great dad!

Edie got her own baby this year. Diana Alondra was born in the Cabbage Patch just a few months after little e herself. Edie loves her dolly, showering her with kisses and taste testing Diana's bright blue shoes.

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday too!

Christmas Eve

We had Christmas Eve dinner at our place this year. My family's tradition has always been to have a formal meal on Christmas Eve, and then a laid back Christmas Day. So we kept with that this year, since my mom, dad (Amma & Avi, to Edie), and sister and brother in law (Aunt Gretchen & Uncle Quay) were all in town to see us. We are so lucky! Edie took a day to process all the new stimulation, but by day 2 she was reveling in all the extra love and attention. Here are some pictures of our little angel on Christmas Eve.

Gymboree Holiday Party

We attended Gymboree's holiday party today and it was as exhausting as it was fun. Edie has fallen into the normal but heartbreaking separation anxiety phase of babyhood, so she's a little more introverted than usual. But as long as she had a mom or a dad to hang on to, she was a party animal.

Her newest talent is to give kisses. Big, open-mouthed baby kisses, complete with a sound effect ("oooh-AH!"). The end of one of these wonderful smooches can be seen in the mom & baby pic here. You never know when you'll get an Edie kiss, but you're always glad you did.

Crossing the threshold

Though Edie still hasn't figured out how to get those dang knees under her for crawling purposes, she is still getting more mobile. Up until yesterday, however, she thought that door frames were actual barriers. This was, of course, exceedingly convenient for me. But a fresh delivery of cloth diapers plus mom and dad in the kitchen were just what she needed to test her assumptions. Happy doesn't begin to describe her state of mind upon reaching her destination!

Daddy's girl

E's eyes recently turned brown from their original baby grey. They look just like her dad's. And with all of those teeth, you can see she's got his indomitable grin too. Lucky guy and happy baby!

Clapping!

She learns something new everyday. And it never ceases to amaze us. Just seconds before this video, E finally got the hang of clapping.

Cafe time

After sitting through mom's haircut (being an angel throughout the process, I might add), what is a cosmopolitan baby to do but head off to a cafe for some chai latte and light reading?
